Stay Healthy by Washing Hand

Everyone wants to be healthy. When we were healthy, we can do everything we want. But sometime we can’t keep it. We do anything that is harmful for our body. We eat junk food, we won’t to do sport and we don’t keep self hygiene.

The easiest way to be healthy is washing hand frequently since it can prevent infection or spread of the germs. Washing hands only need water, soap or an alcohol-based sanitizer.

Why it is important? Everyday, when we touching people, surface and object, we accumulate germs on our hands. Then, we will infect ourselves when we touch nose, mouth, or eyes after. Washing hands frequently minimize the spread of bacteria, viruses, and other microbes.

Hand washing should be done before eating, preparing food, treating wound, giving medicine, touch injured person, and inserting or removing contact lenses.

We also have to wash hands after preparing food especially meat and poultry, using toilet, changing diapers, touching animal, sneezing, coughing, blowing nose, treating wound, touching injured person, and handling garbage or something dirty.

There are some steps to do proper hand washing:

  1. Wet our hands in running water.
  2. Apply liquid or bar soap.
  3. Lather well.
  4. Rub your hands vigorously for at least 20 seconds. Remember to scrub all surfaces, including the backs of your hands, wrists, between your fingers and under your fingernails.
  5. Rinse well.
  6. Dry your hands with a clean or disposable towel or air dryer.
  7. If possible, use your towel to turn off the faucet.

Hand washing heard very simple but sometime difficult to be done. That needs our discipline. But it’s a must. Remember the swine flu outbreaks few months ago? Ya, washing hands proven can limit the spread of the disease.
